In many ways, this clock is one of the most authentic Black Forest farm house replicas in our collection. The balcony on the first story at the building front is a typical feature of a Black Forest farmhouse. Farm homes in the Black Forest frequently feature a large roof surface. It was necessary to have as much storage capacity as possible in order to store enough straw and fodder to get the livestock through the long winters. As a result, the area just beneath the gable had to be utilized as well. The balcony was built to make the room above it useable, and it also serves as a support structure. The front of the building was moved forward and additional room was created, as shown by this clock. In the case of a cuckoo clock, this necessitates the creation of a unique cuckoo. The cuckoo must span the distance between the clock front and the balcony front due to the differing clock/house structure. The model and construction of this cuckoo clock are unique among cuckoo clocks. For one thing, the cuckoo and cuckoo door requires a distinctive construction, which is why they are so close to authentic Black Forest farm buildings. The annexes on both sides of the home, which can be found in many real farmhouses, are another distinguishing feature. The dancing figurines on the balcony begin to spin. This clock is quite ornately decorated, with a wood chopper figurine, animals, and numerous trees; in total, the clock depicts a very convincing woodland scene. All of the figurines and decorative pieces are hand-painted and constructed of wood.
