I have always wanted a really nice – but not too expensive – anniversary clock. This is just lovely and not too large. My eyes keep going to it. Worth every penny.

This clock is exactly how my grandma’s clock used to look like. If you haven’t had prior experience with this type of clock then you probably expect it to be heavy metal and just heavy in general, but that’s not how these clocks used to be made either. This clock is lighter in weight. What’s different about this clock than the ones from “back in the day” is that the dome is out of glass, but my grandma’s clock’s dome was out of plastic. I was terrified of it coming to me broken. This was not the case. It was in a tight styrofoam “coffin” inside of a box. This box was then placed in a larger box with paper surrounding it. To me this seems like enough precautions were taken. It made it safely to Europe.

It came quickly to our home. I bought it as a replacement for a similar anniversary clock I had for 25 years. I loved that clock, but I love this one even more. It is heavier, more sturdy than my trusty old one. It has plastic parts, (so did my old one), but looks like real brass and for the price you don’t expect it to be made of real brass. It doesn’t chime but I would not use that feature, anyway. A good looking clock and it keeps time perfectly.

This clock arrived well packed and with all the batteries required to operate it. It is slightly smaller than the older Seth-Thomas mantel clock we replaced, but the pendulum actually spins, whereas the Seth-Thomas version never did. We’ve had it over a week now, and it seems to keep accurate time. This model does not chime, but we wouldn’t use that feature anyway. Yes, it is made of plastic, but it looks authentic even from a short distance. It is a good value for an economical clock solution. Prices on mantel clocks run from $50 to $200, then jump mysteriously to $2000 to $4000. It’s interesting there is nothing in between.

Clock works fine, however, the instructions on “How to use the clock” are confusing. Before inserting the AA battery, you have to remove the plate at the back of the clock. This can be hard to do. You will then find the battery holder and the hand setting knob.

This clock is absolutely beautiful. We had received a similar clock as a gift 21 years ago and it finally died. I was so pleased to see that there is one so similar. It is keeping perfect time. My only complaint is that the instructions weren’t clear on how to insert the batteries on the back. It requires batteries in two places.
